Multigrain Atta in Pakistan: What It Is, Benefits and Price
Multigrain atta is flour made from several grains and seeds instead of wheat alone. More Pakistani families are switching to it for everyday roti because it adds fibre and variety without changing what is on the dastarkhwan.
What is multigrain atta?
Regular chakki atta is milled from whole wheat. Multigrain atta blends wheat with other grains and seeds, which can include barley (jau), millet (bajra), sorghum (jowar), oats, gram, and seeds such as flax. Each brand uses its own mix. Our Multigrain Atta uses 12 selected grains and seeds.
Multigrain atta vs regular chakki atta
| Multigrain atta | Chakki atta | |
|---|---|---|
| Grains | Several grains and seeds | Wheat only |
| Fibre | Higher | Moderate |
| Taste | Slightly nutty | Familiar, mild |
| Dough | Needs a little more water and rest | Easy to knead |
Why people choose it
- Fuller for longer. Extra fibre slows digestion, which helps with snacking and cravings.
- More variety. Different grains bring different minerals and plant nutrients.
- An easy swap. You keep eating roti; only the flour changes.
Many people who are mindful of blood sugar, cholesterol or heart health choose multigrain atta as part of a balanced diet. It is food, not medicine, so keep following your doctor’s advice for any condition.
How to make soft multigrain rotis
- Add water gradually; multigrain flour absorbs a little more than wheat atta.
- Knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and rest the dough for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Roll slightly thicker than usual and cook on a hot tawa, pressing the edges so it puffs.
